A career in fashion photography doesn’t have to be an impossible dream,  it is achievable.  One of the biggest questions a lot off young photographers ask is – How to get started????

I ask this question Fashion Photographer and author of best selling book on how to become a fashion photographer Bruce Smith

  • persist to assist – research photographers you admire and whose style and  markets you wish you were shooting in.
They are your target for assisting
  • shooting new faces models at well established model agencies free of charge these images get seen in models books
  • then shooting main board refresh images for established models as paid tests
  • you must look at agency web sites to see whats needed re images that work to promote models, so you increase the number of people that see your work – these people see the same people that you want to get commissioned by: fashion editors, beauty editors, art directors, creative directors
  • research – models, stylists books and Makeup artists books and web sites to see whats happening re fashion photography.
  • shoot new designers collections from fashion schools
  • key is networking – so you increase the number of people that see your work – these people see the same people that you want to get commissioned by: fashion editors, beauty editors, art directors, creative directors
  • develop your skills towards area of fashion you want to shoot
  • DON’T show what you don’ t want to shoot in your portfolio
